The Case for Atheism

The Case for Atheism
Hello all,

About a month ago, I started a thread called The Case for Theism. In it I made a case based on 5 indisputable facts that I argued favor theism defined simply as the belief the Universe was intentionally caused by a Creator who intended for humans to exist as opposed to the atheist belief that there was no creator, the universe wasn't intentionally created or designed and subsequently human life wasn't intended to occur.

Since no atheists took it upon themselves to write this counter thread I've taken the liberty to start it. I'm throwing down the gauntlet are any atheists willing to make a case from indisputable facts (not speculative theories) that will convince me I am mistaken, that my belief in a Creator isn't reasonable and there are facts and data that provide a reasonable doubt to the existence of God? I'm giving atheists the benefit of the doubt that their disbelief in God is because of facts that call that hypothesis into question, not because they don't like the idea of God for personal reasons.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what you would count as "indisputable facts" but I've got 3 philosophical arguments that I'm thinking off the top of my head:

1) the argument from non-belief
2) objective morality entails God doesn't exist
3) the "God Index" which entails that the probability of a god existing with certain attributes is 0.

There's more powerful arguments than those out there, but yeah... there you go for now.

Here is the single most important, indisputable fact in this argument.

You are completely unable to show me any physical evidence of your god.

Argument over.

I think you've read this a few times before, somewhere in this forum, but here it goes again!
Listen very carefully, I shall say only once!

The case for atheism is the total absence of proof/evidence for the existence of any god.

That's it, have a nice day.

Oh, and then you can also grab most stock arguments in favour of God (kalam, ontological) and tear those to shreds until you get bored.

Atheists don't need a case, just as a-unicornists don't need a case against the existence of unicorns, or a-chucacabraists don't need a case against the existence of chucacabras. Lack of evidence is sufficient and I would consider a person quite foolish who did believe in such things without reasonable evidence.

Humans are incredibly inventive at making things up and we've been making up various gods/spirits/boojums/djinns/demons forever.

Therefore, all case of "x exists", need to be followed with "and the evidence of existence is....".

It remains beholden on the claimant to prove their claim, not the other way around.

cabra: meaning a goat

chupacabras suck the blood of goats and other animals...
