(I do presume that ipods would be free, though, yes, as it incorporates elements of socialism itself-and is touted as an updated and practical direction for socialism to take by it's proponents, lol)

i have a feeling that michelle bachmann can convince a crowd of hillbillies that jesus will come back within their lietimes before a "technocrat" will develop...........whatever the fuck you think it is they will develop........... it amazes me how the most intelligent of society rails against the idiots who claim the world will end......and the "rapture" will come "within their lifetimes".......... like so many generations have before...............while simultaneously claims we can live in some kind of flying car/vertical farm utopia ..........in our "lifetimes"........let's try to get stem cell research legalized....before we start growing our food in skyscrapers............ shall we children.........

Not sure why a technocracy would be a utopia, I can see it very easily being a dystopia, personally. You know what kind of official would legalize stem cell research in a heartbeat, btw, a technocrat. I mean cmon man, if fascism is on the table I think we can make some room, eh?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

They're pretty well defined, but no, they don't exist. There was a point where presidents and prime minsters didn't exist either, I don't see why this is a problem. Why would there be any technocrats when there aren't any technocracies for them to administer? You've essentially asked me to point at the King of the United States - in a different way.....

We're talking reform right, so why insist on rehashing -nothing- but old ideas...is there something wrong with adding to the mix?

In our lifetimes, no, probably not - I mean there's no ruling it out entirely, I've got another 50 left in me at the least - but I don't expect it. One way to ensure that it's never a reality for anyone, ourselves or our children or our children's children is to suggest and maintain that it isn't worth adding in for consideration just because we think it might be difficult to accomplish. Or if we show a preference or deference to fascism over it.....fuck...

A technocracy is just one form that an oligarchy could take, and that was left off the table.

Well, there are some crucial differences that a technocracy has as proposed (not that I'm championing the idea that we'd be able to pull them off very easily) from a vanilla oligarchy. Oversight, redress, social ownership - it;s alot of things cobbled together under the banner of the most prominent and different feature of that sort of arrangement that the proponents wants to advocate. I think that altogether it's sufficiently different from any of the contributing influences to be given it's own space.

(and as far as oligarchies go - I don't think that any were explicitly left on the table - though everything offered has the potential to contain, either intentionally or unintentionally - elements of oligarchy)

We have to simply wait for the seoti-octogenarians to die off and take their 1950's outlook with them. This is what the republicunts do not understand. They don't need a better "messenger." They need a better "message."

These are changes in political culture/social norms, but not philosophy as such.

By political philosophy, I mean points such whether we should strive for equal opportunities or equal outcomes, or allow all to vote. These are points that generally reduce to common answers, and this has been the same for decades.
