Encouraging intelligence in our youth!! Finally!
#31
Question
Interfaith Relationships
My girlfriend asked me yesterday if we were to ever marry would I get married in a church. It means a lot to her apparently so i said yes because i don't really care where i get married.
Would you guys do the same ? Or are there any amongst us who have experience with this already.
What was it like ? Did it make much of a difference to you?
If you are religious have you married a man/women with no religious views outside of the church ?
We are all atheists about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.

Equally true of your xtian bullshit except "atheism" is not being preached anywhere, asshole. There is nothing to "preach." We have no holy books, no doctrine, no funny hats to put on our leaders, and no fucking invisible sky-daddies.

We get the smarter theists who finally figure out that they have been conned. One day you may wise up but I doubt it.

Yeah, I got married in a church. I even let my wife baptize my child, but if you're really serious about discussing this, it's a broad enough topic that you should start a new thread.

(True story. As the minister was going through the wedding ceremony, he reached a point where he was describing our marriage as union under god, and right when he said the word "god," the stick that they used to light some candles fell down making a loud crash and interrupted his words.)

ETA: Nevermind. I see you did start a new thread.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
