While we're on the subject hell and satan. I've heard some of the disjointed christian shuffle on why god doesn't make any appearances anymore......but what about the devil. This is god's arch nemesis.....the biggest bad boy there is......he don't follow no rules.......how come's he never just pops up out of the ground, pisses hell fire on an orphanage, flips everyone off and then disappears.....how comes that never happensConfused Fall

It happens all the time - you're just not watching the right movies. Try "Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny"; it's a true story, and Satan was nominated for best supporting actor.

Satan is restrained by God, if he wasn't he would have already destroyed this world, this is something you can find in scripture. Also Satan is not omnipresent, he can only be in one place at a time, he has no time to mess with those who reject God. He concentrates on things that will effect the many, in other words those who reject God are of no consideration to Satan, they are small fish in the pond. On the contrary God reaches out to everyone, all they have to do is accept His invitation.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

So, 15 times, plus the instances that don't use the actual word hell. Whaddaya want? I doubt that "But you only warned us fifteen+ times about it" is gonna get you anywhere in the judgment. Heck, that won't even work here. "Yes officer, I was speeding, but I only saw fifteen speed limit signs...there shoulda been 18!"

But I do love the irony that our resident protestant assholes have seized onto catholic doctrine and cling to it passionately.

Matthew 13:42, Jesus says: "And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

Matthew 25:41, Jesus says: "Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire . . ."

Mark 9:46, Jesus says: "Where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched."

Matthew 25:46, Jesus says, : "These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

The man in Luke 16:24 cries: "I am tormented in this flame."

Revelation 20:15: "And whoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

Are we supposed to throw out the idea of Hell because it is *only* mentioned 15 times? Or do you mean society's concept of Hell is a literary construct?--because I'd agree to that. The Bible itself is very clear: Hell is a place of perpetual torment.

Yes, the article made clear that there are some 15 references to "hell" in your fucking bullshit stories. I really don't need you to list them because to tell you the truth I don't give a flying fuck what your bible says. Clear?

15 times is still a lot of times for something to be mentioned in the Bible. Christians often shit their pants with excitement over things that are only mentioned once, or even not at all. (Equal marriage, anyone?)

Pfft...I'll take my chances. In fact, I am so certain that hell doesn't exist, I am willing to bet my eternal soul on it.
