There constructing an evangelical Christian army...
We are all atheists about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.

Many are going over the hill.

Quote:Ken Ham (founder of the Creation Museum) commissioned a study to find out why 2/3 of kids leave Evangelical churches when they reach their mid-20s. He’s also co-written a book, Already Gone: Why your kids will quit church and what you can do to stop it. The study results will astound you!

Ham commissioned Britt Beemer, founder of the American Research Group and a former researcher for the Heritage Foundation, to find out why two of every three Evangelical kids turn their backs on their religion when they reach their mid-20s. The number who leave has been well established; the reason was always thought to be exposure to the “secularist agenda” when in college. Not so!

Beemer contacted 1,000 20-29 year old young adults who used to attend Evangelical churches regularly, but no longer did so. He found, shockingly, that those who most regularly attended Sunday School were the most likely to question the truthfulness of Scripture, to defend same-sex marriage and abortion, and to flat-out leave the church than those who didn’t.

You gotta love the implication of ol' Hambone's book: what's important isn't letting your kids follow their own path, or behave in ways consistent with their own, self determined beliefs. What's important is keeping them in the church, no matter what.

Because honesty? Fuck that shit, right?

Quote:Quiverfull families tend to believe in male headship - the principle, also derived from the Bible, that men should lead households.

Ive never heard of this "quiverfull" thing before, but that men head families is not derived from the Bible, but a simple fact of reality.

Men dominate women, as naturally as breathing, because men are physically superior to women. (this doesnt mean they are not equals; it only means men are physically superior - but thats quite a significant superiority).

Ergo, it is natural that men take positions of authority over women, including as head of a household.

Of course, thats a very traditional way to look at it, and in modern times we do not think of someone being in charge, but of men and women being a team (which is how things should work).

But ultimately, any power or authority women do have, its not because they took it themselves, its because men chose to share it with them. (which is again how things should be done - sharing).

Feminists often moan about "patriarchy". Another word for Patriarchy is "Reality".

At the very bottom line of every argument, every dispute, every power vacuum, is the question: who is going to be left standing if the fists start flying here - and its not women.

Check out the animal kingdom - 99.9% of species there follow the exact same pattern.

Nature / reality is patriarchal; if a religion supports this then it is only acknolwedging reality, its not inventing some divine right for men (which doesnt exist, because men and women are equals).
