Why is it necessary to refute evolution in order to prove God's existence? Do you feel that in order to follow your religion, you also can't accept the theory of evolution? Is it because Darwin's theory doesn't of course support a theist's belief that humans have souls? And this would throw a monkey wrench into the whole heaven/hell concoction?

Whenever someone states that they can refute evolution I always have to wonder why they haven't managed to write a science paper, get it peer-reviewed, and then published.

Such refutation for what is a fundamental science, and a science that has given birth to other scientific disciplines would be a guarantee for a Nobel Prize.

Of course, they always make the claim that such research and science exists but there's an international conspiracy among scientists to keep that evidence suppressed.

Of course, this is nonsense since science is a cut throat field and many scientists would jump at the chance for the fame and funding such a revelation would get.

Yes, you're exactly right: non-directed evolution is a religion, because there's some benefit- that you just haven't mentioned, I'm sure- to adhering to that regardless of the facts. Despite the fact that proving an intelligence behind evolution would earn a Nobel Prize at the least, and millions of dollars at most. Despite the fact that success in science is results based, in terms of applicability. Despite the fact that intentionally getting things wrong gets one discredited in science. It's a religion.

A religion that every last mainstream scientist, in every culture across the world, including those that are religious, is a member of, and that not a single one of them, ever, have ever gone against, despite the immense personal success such a thing would grant them. Clearly.

That's much more sensible than the alternative, which is that you are flat fucking wrong.

I keep coming back to the same question. Are Muslims an embarrassment to humanity, or is Muslim scholar simply an embarrassment to Muslims. Having heard Honza speak, I'm inclined to think Muslim morality isn't the only thing with its head up its ass, hoping the 17th century's rationalist vibe will "just blow over."
