The only blatant marginalization of Atheists that exists in the UK is the determination from the religious folks and the right wing not to have an Atheist prime minister (probably similar to the US presidency).

It would veeery awkward for an Atheist prime minister to sing our national anthem LOL

I have. I had a hard time getting a job, because of my professed atheism (I live in a small community where everyone knows everybody else). Gotten death-threats because of it alongside the usual "you're gonna burn in Hell" and whatnot bullshit.

Luckily, we have freedom of religion here (wouldn't have it if it wasn't for Denmark, I'm sure), so government and public institutions cannot just trump through whatever religious shit (read: Christian special treatment) they want.

Not really. I live in a country (UK / England and Wales) where a large number of people are atheists. If the current trend continues religions like Methodism will be all but gone within the next 20 years.

Short of atheism, apathy to religion accounts for the vast majority of people in England and Wales, so more often than not people you meet are atheists, especially younger generations (Cohort Effect).

Most fundamentalists here tend to be Catholic, a crazy minority religion/cult or Islamic.
