Well I've been doing better with it, but the moment I hear a southern accent I immediately move to the default position that the person is a half a retard. It took me knowing some really smart people from the South for me to start trying to get a grip on it.

Do you have any prejudices?

Thankfully we don't have "southerners" here in the Southern Hemisphere.
Bogons on the other hand.................... "The Universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest." G'Kar-B5
For me it works in reverse too. If I meet someone with a really posh accent (I tend to upvote British, Australian, and European accents), I tend to give them extra intelligence/educational points. This, of course, is fallacious as well. Just the opposite of Southern accents, and to a lesser extent really strong New England or other foreign accents.
lol.. if you're as intelligent as you presume, you'd realise that stereotyping per se is fallacious.
i'd imagine you read some pop culture-based magazine and deciphered that all people everywhere from an ex-Confederacy state are dim.. RE: Do you have any prejudices?

No, I lived in an ex-Confederacy state for 12 years... I got to see a lot of stupid first-hand.
But see the trick is recognizing you're even doing the stereotyping. I didn't realize until college when I caught myself tuning out of a lecture, from a Southern-accented prof, who was otherwise very intelligent.
lol. so you project the values of one to all? if one german steals my car, all germans are thieves?
Nah, and I tend to be more aware of my thoughts now then I was when I was in my teens and early 20's, specifically where certain notions come from. But there was a point where I didn't analyze so much and just went with my gut, so to speak. Now the problem is reversed and I tend to over-analyze, which is problematic as well. Like most of life it's a balancing act. Haven't perfected it yet, but if I do I'm going to build a self-help empire and rake in the dough

Perhaps... Perhaps not... Doesn't seem like you're interested in finding out. Which is fine by me
or that you claim to be intelligent, yet believe what you read as gospel? as said in this thread, prejudice to me is normal. it's comical to read people who profess to being intelligent having faulty perceptions and ideals.
