The Last Movie You Watched
RE: The Last Movie You Watched
Not an actual film, but I just watched the trailer for 'Skyscraper' with Dwayne Johnson.  I've seen this film before, but Johnson was a lot smaller, lighter, and was using the name 'Bruce Willis'.

Is that the one about the programming language? I kept hearing them mention PERL.

Huh. When I saw it before, I could swear he was even smaller than that and using the name "Steve McQueen." And I'm sure there was more Paul Newman in there.

Something I'm starting now: Watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

In the 10 years since the release of Iron Man, I have only seen three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Doctor Strange (because Dad wanted to see it), Captain America: Winter Soldier (for a film class), and Spiderman: Homecoming (because I saw it on Rotten Tomatoes' Top 100 Best-rated films list). Until recently, I hadn't bothered with the other films because, well, I'm more of a DC person. Sadly, as we all know, DC is trying their own hand at a cinematic universe, and of the five films released so far, exactly one was any good.

This changed recently. The first thing to push me to this was finding spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War and being intrigued by Thanos, and his malthusian motivations. I decided to not lobby my Dad into going because, well, apparently, it's such a massive crossover that you'll be lost if you missed any of these films (with the apparent exception of Iron Man 3, Ant Man, and Spider-Man Homecoming, if TVtropes is right). Then the final catalyst was my going to the Ravinia gift shop (for a Jackson Browne concert) and seeing an "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" tin (I bought it for my picks). I recognised it was related to Guardians of the Galaxy, but remembered I had not actually seen the film.

This made me resolve to watch all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, in order if at all possible. Eventually, I decided to go to the library and put them in my library DVD queue. Sadly, last week, neither Iron Man nor Incredible Hulk were available there. Fortunately, I lucked out and got Iron Man 1 and 2 and Incredible Hulk. Sadly, Thor was not available at the time. Maybe next week. And, of course, due to my being in Wisconsin (and thus not in a position to rent films from my local library), there will be a two-week gap after that where I won't watch them. That said, if all goes well next week, I'll have finished Phase 1 by the time I head up there.

I am neither a DC nor a Marvel fan and couldn't care less about comic book movies. I enjoyed the Iron Man movies, the spider man movies and sequels with Toby McGuire were horrific, I liked the first Captain America, Thor was atrocious, and Wonder Woman was alright. I liked Batman Begins and The Dark Knight but not The Dark Knight Rises. I saw the Edward Norton Hulk but hardly remember anything about it. And the first Avengers movie which was okay.

I saw this a couple weeks ago, was the only person in the theater, and was totally creeped out, not by the movie, but by an usher who kept walking in, stood halfway up the steps and would then leave.

The movie itself was okay. I was spoiled going into it because I knew I wouldn't be able to handle a horror flick without knowing about the story but even then I didn't find it incredibly scary. The horror part of it mostly consisted of jump scares to me. It felt more like a thriller. I also wasn't totally blown away by the ending. Interesting concept, though.

That looks interesting.  Probably be forever before it's available, if ever, on Netflix, though.
