Woman shot dead after five-hour standoff with APD SWAT officers

Ah, you may ask, what was a SWAT team doing there?  Excellent question.

Police said they were called to the Chelsea Park Apartments in the 6500 block of Shirley Avenue around 1:30 a.m. for a suicidal woman. A man called 9-1-1 because his girlfriend threatened to commit suicide.

So they were called to stop her from committing suicide but where's the fun in that?

Just after 6 a.m., the situation turned into a deadly shooting. Police tell us she came out of the apartment holding a weapon – first pointing it at herself, and then pointing it at SWAT officers.

Austin Police say a SWAT officer saw his colleagues were in danger, and fired.

At least she didn't have to kill herself....not when there are helpful cops around!

This is why I can't stand cops.  They think they can do whatever the fuck they want and use this drug shit as carte blanche.

I'm actually a victim of a bad cop.  Spent a night in jail because of him and his controlling and perverted ways.

Justice came when he was fired and the town finally added cameras to the cop cars.  Oh, and the smile from the judge when he told me he was dismissing the case.  Seriously?  Assault on a police officer?  He was easily 300 LBs to my 120... stuck his hands down my pants (felt around down there a little while I was screaming and crying too) and everything.  

Cops scare me.

If there were no police officers, who would hold down the fort?  Are there NO decent police officers?

That question has been raised before.  My answer is "not enough."

The reason for that is that even if they don't gun someone down themselves they cover up for the ones who do.  Sort of the way pervert priests were protected by the rest of the church hierarchy.

An 82-year-old Texas man alleged this week that officers in military gear stormed his home, broke his hip and then left him without calling for medical assistance.

Herman Crisp told KTBC that Georgetown deputies wearing SWAT uniforms gave no warning before throwing a flash-bang device outside his home last September as he was sitting in a chair and smoking a cigarette.

The agency said supervisors encouraged some of the bad behavior and often did little to investigate it. Some told the Justice Department that they often wrote their reports to make an officer look as good as possible, the federal agency said. The department found that only six officers had been suspended for improper use of force over a three-year period.

The investigation was the second time in recent years the Justice Department has taken the Cleveland police to task over the use of force. But unlike in 2004, when the agency left it up to local police to clean up their act, federal authorities this time have been negotiating a consent decree designed to serve as a blueprint for lasting change within the police department. Several other police departments in the country now operate under federal consent decrees that involve independent oversight.

Williamson County and the City of Georgetown both told KXAN that they could not comment because they had not seen a copy of the lawsuit.

I guess they need to make sure their stories are straight.
