If only the police could do what they're trained to do in the manner they are trained to do it without becoming power mad and paranoid.

Quote:“It is outrageously insulting to all police officers to say that we go out on our streets to choke all people of colour as Al Sharpton stated while seated at the table right next to our mayor at City Hall,” said Patrick Lynch, head of the powerful Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.Boy, they chose the perfectly-named guy to make that statement, huh?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Depressing how often there is more news for this thread. Maybe we should cancel the license we give police to use force. Require a court order or some such.
Watching this Missouri thing with great interest. Ever notice how when it is a non-cop killing they have the suspect arraigned within 24 hours but when a cop murders someone the "investigation" ( a/k/a cover up) takes months to complete.
I wonder why that is? (August 13, 2014 at 2:10 pm)Minimalist Wrote: Watching this Missouri thing with great interest. It takes time to sanitize his social media & work record. $10 this isn't the first time this cop has had issues with unwarranted violence, probably a 'roid head.
"How is it that a lame man does not annoy us while a lame mind does? Because a lame man recognizes that we are walking straight, while a lame mind says that it is we who are limping." - Pascal

Honestly I think the best thing to do would be to raise the barrier to entry into the police force in the first place, requiring higher knowledge of the law and ethics and the history of police action and a dearth of other information relating to law enforcement policy.

So I guess I'll just keep depressing the fuck out of everyone. Another cop murder, this time in LA.

The explanation of why they had to shoot him in the back as "justifiable force" should prove interesting, to say the least. That is exactly the problem.
