Yea there certainly are good cops, but we can argue on and on, throwing back what good cops have done and what bad cops have done, all we can do is have faith that the system is working. I hope you are right about these stupid Muslims, hopefully they will be weeded out and shot. I have to admit that I am now paronoid of Muslims, I have schizophrenia so that doesn't help, and was shot along a highway while driving a fare view years ago.

But it is not and I believe Min is trying to make that point. You would get thrown in jail as an 'accessory after the fact'. Why should a cop get a free walk? The bad cops are not being properly dealt with and the culpable actions of the "Blue Wall of Silence" should at least be reprimanded. The system will not change if the system does not get changed.

I know what he is saying is right, but I am and always will stick up for all the good cops that out number the so called bad cops, there is two sides to this story in case you didn't realize.

I think that the point of the articles that Min links to is to show that the system is not working. By making the small number of bad cops effectively immune to being punished for their actions (up to and including injuring or even killing unarmed and sometimes harmless citizens) you increase the odds that cops will cross that line under duress, instead of remembering to take the more cautious route. I don't like the idea that dealing with a cop might be like a game of russian roulette that I did not agree to take part in.

Here's some faith for the system. This is a report about NYC's correction officer union boss, Norman Seabrook. He is openly corrupt, but nothing is done.

On that day, a Rikers inmate, Dapree Peterson, 21, was scheduled to testify against two correction officers who had been accused of assaulting Mr. Peterson and covering it up in an official report. It was precisely the kind of case that Ms. Finkle had vowed to pursue.

But that Monday morning, Mr. Seabrook and members of his executive board drove to Rikers, where officers were preparing 33 buses to ferry inmates between the jail complex and the city’s courthouses. The buses had all been in working order the previous Friday and, in some cases, just hours before, according to affidavits related to the incident later filed with the city. But now they were all too dangerous to drive, Mr. Seabrook and his members claimed.

Seabrook wields enough power that he had an independent lead investigator replaced with a childhood friend. This is mafia, not law enforcement.

Ok you know it all, so what should we do ?.

Hold them accountable for their actions. Fire them when they fuck up. Try them just like any other citizen when they apparently commit a crime. Why is that so much to ask?

That's already being done, you don't want to believe that because your mind is already made up and you probably hate cops, the very people you would run to when your life is threatened.
