"Most cases" isn't what the post was about. It was about a particular cop who acted particularly inappropriately, in a way that ought to land him in jail, not back on the beat.

Just heard on the news that two cops in New York were assassinated. I guess people are fed up with Garner and others being killed.

Its odd that when the cops are killed you don't hear much about it, and to kill an innocent cop for revenge is ugly, an eye for an eye, will make us all blind.

I read about it as soon as I got back to my computer tonight. Guess what? There are crazy people on all sides and thanks to our lax gun laws they are armed to the teeth.

Still, Bratton is correct. Those two cops were targeted because they were cops. It's a fucking shame but passions are inflamed on both sides.

Off duty, black cops in New York feel threatened by fellow police officers

Reuters interviewed 25 African American male officers on the NYPD, 15 of whom are retired and 10 of whom are still serving. All but one said that, when off duty and out of uniform, they had been victims of racial profiling, which refers to using race or ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone of having committed a crime.

The officers said this included being pulled over for no reason, having their heads slammed against their cars, getting guns brandished in their faces, being thrown into prison vans and experiencing stop and frisks while shopping. The majority of the officers said they had been pulled over multiple times while driving. Five had had guns pulled on them.

A 12 year old boy was killed by a cop, he was holding a replica gun, looked real enough, the boy did not make any threats or point the gun at the cop. The 911 caller said they did not know if gun was real or fake. Why not use a a non lethal weapon to subdue this 12 year old child instead of shooting kid twice in stomach?
