But I'd like to turn this around...
Meet Joe, He's a standard guy, trying to make a living in a crazy world... One day, this other guy (Matt) tells him about yet another dude, let's call this dude, 'Dude'.... and Joe falls in love with Dude, because of all the wonderful things that Matt told him about Dude and he also told him that Dude loves Joe back.
At some point, other friends of Joe's tell him about Dude.... He really wants to meet Dude, but no one can get those two in touch with each other.
Now you are, dear reader, are fully aware that Dude was made up by Joe's friends, just to mess with him, or to get him to look forward to something, or whatever...
Is it ok to tell Joe that Dude doesn't exist, never has and never will?
What's your answer to the original question? First line of my post... did you even read it?

Is she hot?
On her deathbed, apparently... a bit over-ripe, for my taste...

I'd tell her... but not right away. Dealing with mourners can be such a pain.
Nah, I'd just leave her alone. Not for moral reasons, but because I really don't give a shit.

No, evidently not. So you agree that it would be wrong to tell her? You agree that if someone did tell her he/she would be doing something wrong?

Well, I assume we should care about others - don't you get that impression? And we have two options, we can disabuse her of the idea that she had a husband at all - something that would cause her much upset - or we can just challenge her idea that her husband wouldn't want her to engage in any other relationships.
Thte latter is more prudent and more moral.

I think your original question was worded wrong, since you neglected to say that the person who has to decide to tell her or not has the power to read minds and predict the future accurately and therefore know she would be sad for the rest of her life, and also that she would be on her deathbed.
I've already said if that was the case obviously I wouldn't tell her, just let the woman die in peace.
The people who answered the question seem to be under the assumption you were asking a question directed to someone who couldn't read minds, or predict the future or was talking to a woman on her death bed.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

Yeah, I changed what I said as you were writing this. I realised what I said didn't quite reflect my opinion. It is fine now though.

Has anyone realized that the most immoral one is the husband who cheated on her her entire life?
In this analogy, isn't that god, who lied about existing our entire lives?

I answered under the proper assumption. Even if she was on her deathbed, I would still tell her the truth. Some people may think that makes me a horrible person, but I could care less about their opinions.

I'd tell her the truth because my external moral instructions tell me to.

Of course you wouldn't care. That's the problem.

So you genuinely sense that it is right to tell her the truth? I think your moral sense is off.

Who are you to question my external moral instructions?
