Understanding the Creationist Propaganda Model
#11
RE: Understanding the Creationist Propaganda Model
Some people made a living of propagating false information in many ways. Creationism is one of them untill they put an advisory note that it is a theory, because to be a scientific theory, it comes rather short on evidence.

RE: Understanding the Creationist Propaganda Model
In this day and age, "don't ask the question of how, just have faith" isn't going to keep YECs from seeking answers. Even if that's what got Eve in trouble in the first place.

I say just let em figure it out for themselves when they go looking and find the truth. If and when they try to force feed their bs to public schools that's when the court steps in with a little thing called Reality. What's wrong with studying science and learning how things work, and saying in all truthfulness that no one knows (yet) how it all started? I also wouldn't be opposed to an elective class that teaches religious beliefs including why they are believed in. But as far as I know there's no scientific evidence to suggest intelligent design. Bring it on if you have it.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

You don't say! It's barely a hypothesis, more like an idea. Eh, who am I kidding, it's fantasy! Tongue
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Mind you, I think you're right in trying to debunk the creationists... but they are one stubborn folk.

Scientists/atheists have told creationists many times that evolution is not accidental. It doesn't just randomly occur out of thin air. Life starts as very tiny particles of life, then evolves into something bigger. I suggest you watch that video about the falsehoods of creationism. You will find it informative.

Man, I've heard all the falsehoods of creationists...
Some can be really awesome and I understand how a lot of people fall for them... but if you just do a little research, you find that they are wrong...

RE: Understanding the Creationist Propaganda Model

Propaganda is commonly defined as communication designed to appeal to a person's emotions in order to get them to take a desired action.

I have seen nothing in this thread that really talks about propaganda, creationist or otherwise, much less any demonstration that creationists have a specific model of propaganda that they employ, nor does anything in this thread even remotely help me understand this alleged model.

What this thread does appear to contain is emotionally loaded descriptions of the behavior of some creationists with the apparent goal of getting people to oppose creationists and creationism.

So rather than being given a glimpse at a creationist model of propaganda as promised, I've been served up a batch of anti-creationist propaganda instead.

I think that's the last of my irony meters...

They use a propaganda model where they say "this looks like creation, therefore it had to have a creator".
