Hidden God theory

I had a long dialog with one of our resident Christians here, on another thread, where I posed this to him after he claimed that his god was hidden.

Interesting enough, that ended the discussion. He made no response to my question and wished me well in my 'search'.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

P.S This is my first ever thread, I am new Smile

Firstly...Hi!

Tell your friend the opposite of God is truth. Since truth can be evidenced empirically, it follows god is no longer hidden, but indeed exposed to be...nothing.

See? It isn't just religious types who can spout gibberish, anyone can!

Thankyou. I liked what you said. If you see closely he also contradicted his beliefs when he said "The contrast of opposite makes things visible." This cleary shows how Hell or Heaven might have not been the places people think they are.

Then how does your friend explain heaven?

It seems this alleged god is quite capable of creating prominent happiness without suffering.

I asked the same thing, he went out babbling some metaphysical stuff, and everyone took his side, Only thing I understood that day was that you can just make any religious person do anything by saying some comfusing religious stuff!
