It is stupefying to me that team owners can get these kinds of deals at all, but that one takes the cake. Maybe the city government will also offer to buy up all of the unsold tickets so that the team can boast of "consecutive sold out games" that no one bothers to attend.

I know they'll tout it as "Look at all the work it's creating." Yeah, in the short term, but what about the long run well after the arena is built? You think anyone who got a job for a year or two to build that building is going to be able to afford to go to the games afterward?
For some reason I had a flashback to high school where sports was always held up to be far more important than anything else.

I like hockey. It is not the sport's fault that the owners are greedy capitalist fuckballs and the municipal politicians are spineless shitheads.
