No verifiable evidence is the Christian position
RE: No verifiable evidence is the Christian position
Just one small step and you'll be one of us plumb!

Because the position is entirely consistent with my world view and my belief, as yours should be to you.

Or do you not think that Christians should believe that there should be verifiable proof of the supernatural? How do you justify this nonsense?

Yes, I do think that there should be verifiable proof for anything in which you express a positive belief, no exceptions.

I asked you how you can be happy with this as your worldview, and your answer is "because it's my worldview."

You've admitted on multiple occasions that there's no verifiable evidence for your claims, no reason to believe supernatural claims beyond that you want to: why? How could you be satisfied with believing a thing just because you feel like it?

Honestly, I've asked you what it is that convinces you of your position before, and you've never really given a straight answer. Your explanation in your last post was just riddled with presuppositions... what's the deal here?

@Esq I won't bother wasting time on your straw men. You can't be bothered to address me squarely. That doesn't deserve an answer.

You still didn't justify that. Why shouldn't a rationally justified argument be enough to believe something? Why should we not trust our reasoning abilities?

There is nothing rationally justified about believing in something for which there is no verifiable evidence to support its existence.

That kind of destroys the notion of 'rational' then maelstrom. If you don't allow yourself to think, then you couldn't get to a point of verifying anything.

What you truly mean is if one allows one's self to not think, then that individual could believe all sorts of fairy tales are real.

No, thinking is what enables us to know that fairy tales are just that. That's why you come out with this tired old cliche. To you a rock isn't a rock until you've walked into it and cracked open your skull.

A rock is a rock because its existence can be verified. The same cannot be stated for god, for the only way to believe in his existence is to close one's eyes to reality and pretend he is there when he obviously is not. God is nothing more than an imaginary friend for grown ups who have never grown up.

Yes absolutely. You have to verify the rock exists before you can believe it. Do you see how dumb that is? The rest of humanity reason that if it looks like a rock, it is a rock. No need to test that. Humans are capable of reaching rational conclusions and building on them. This is how a lot of progress is made. You would have us transported back to our past where we had instinct and no memory. The goldfish is your evolutionary next step.

But we digress. I'm glad that you agree with me that there can be no verifiable evidence. Thanks for the support Wink
