It's awesome to know that there are christians out there who see this sort of drivel for what it is. Maybe they're even in the majority. I have no way of knowing.

It's unfortunate that such voices will likely be drowned out by the bleating of their intellectually challenged brethren.

It's not necessarily a question of being stupid. Probably the majority of religious people are above average intelligence, at the very least. It's more to do with gullibility, a short-circuit in critical thinking that makes a person accept without hesitation anything that some figure of authority tells them if it reinforces jealously-guarded beliefs, especially if it's reinforced in turn by other authority sources ("a lie told often enough becomes the truth", but more effectively to a mindset that desperately wants that lie to be truth in the first place).

Remember, 'stupid' isn't not knowing something; it's not even wanting to learn.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
