What's everyone up to right now?

What, I have to do this in two threads now?
![]() Happy Birthday, lazybones!
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Those waiting rooms are not very ergonomic. My wife is a nurse and we were just talking about that the other day. I was just talking with my mom the other day about a friend of hers who went into the ER with major pain and they made her wait 5 hours to just be taken back and given a bed, let alone pain meds - and she was four days post op. Once she saw a doctor they rushed her immediately back to surgery. Just going in for my flu was a pain in the ass - it took forever for them to check me in, but once I was the doc got through with me quickly and competently enough. I'm pretty sure it's the administration that makes everything so fucked up in hospitals and such.

Happy birthday, Dystopia. ^^
In other news, I am now mostly recovered from the horrors of the stomach flu. I'd like to humbly thank those of you who sacrificed infants to restore my health. No further sacrifices will be necessary. Tamiflu will finish the job from here out.

We got to the emergency room at 7:30. We left at four in the morning. -_-

Ruh oh, is everything alright Esqui?

Well, we got some antibiotics and saline fluids out of it, staving off dehydration and possibly kicking her fever for a while. They were just criminally slow about it all, and are still treating the symptoms rather than the underlying cause. What's particularly irritating is that it didn't need to be this way. We've been waiting about a week for doctors to get off their asses and organize fluid infusions for Luckie because she's dehydrating due to fever, but apparently getting her something she needs to, you know, survive, isn't worth making more than one phone call per week. ![]()

Is it me, or has she been with that dehydration problem for a while, now... as in more than a month!!?? Is this the first antibiotic she's getting for that? How's she flushing all the water? I'm going by what I've seen from my kids.. when they get diarrhea, they tend to become dehydrated and then need some extra to overcome the bug in their intestines and restock on electrolytes . Also, I see it's not just Portugal that's having a stupid problem of extreme waiting in a hospital... Last January, we kept having news of people dying in the waiting room... The doctors insist on treating each incident as an entirely new problem, rather than the persistent, untreated one it clearly is by now. They'll hit her with some antibiotics, her fever will go down and the saline will rehydrate her, we'll get a week or so of peace, and then the problem comes right back. At least this time we got a recommendation to see her gastroenterologist and a rheumatologist, rather than... nothing at all. Quote:How's she flushing all the water? Uh, yeah. Exactly like that. ![]() Quote:Also, I see it's not just Portugal that's having a stupid problem of extreme waiting in a hospital... Well, we were in the waiting room for three hours or so. The bulk of the waiting happened in the hospital room, where they just put us, while people waited for rooms to open up outside, and left us there for hours, with nothing happening. Suffice it to say, we'll be going to the better hospital, further away, in future.
