This reminds me of a story I once heard... (I'm starting to sound like an old fart)

It was about a sandwich bar kind of place... Every day, they had fresh sandwiches.
Also, every day, there were some left at the end of the day.
The people thought that they could give those away to homeless and other less fortunate people and so they did.

Within a short time, those homeless people started demanding certain particular sandwiches and getting angry about not having them. They got angry at the people who were giving them food.
The result is that now leftovers go in the trash.


Moral of the story: never bite the hand that feeds you. It'll stop feeding you and you die!

Yes, I have offered lunch left overs to the guys on the off ramps with a sign begging for change.

Then I get questions like "Is it organic?" "Thanks, but I am vegetarian." Welcome to Portland.

There is nothing wrong with that, but if your hungry, at least take it and give it to someone else, seems ungrateful not to accept it. I am not so inclined to do it again after being dissed.

I feel bad now because I didn't want to just leave him there when he was asking for something, but come on, I bought what he wanted and then he started demanding more, and I knew it would end on alcohol or cigs and I'm not doing that Undecided
I feel less inclined to do it again now
