At work. Trying to get over the cold have I have fighting for a few days. Started as a cough, now in the sinuses. I need to feel better.

I finished the step sheet for my newest novel. This is a sort of road map based on How to Write a Damn Good Novel by James N. Hey.

With the step sheet I know where I want the novel to go, where the plot twists and movement of action takes place. As I write the actual novel my task if to figure out how to get from point A to point B., whether to use narrative or dialogue and where to include character development.

I find this is a good way to conquer writer’s block. Instead of being overwhelmed by the whole humongous task of turning a blank sheet of paper into a story with more than 200 pages, I break it down into little bite sized pieces that encourage me because I feel I can handle them.

Of course, as every successful war general knows, the best lade battle plan is good only up to the first engagement with the enemy. Yet no general goes to war with no plan at all.

It's a fantasy novel that mixes science and magic, hidden realms and the five elements (fire, wind, earth, water and quintessence)
