It's happened so many times Beccs! I'm not saying it's bound to happen any time soon. Whenever it does happen though, I've never had a scripted retort.
The main reason I think about this is because I asked my dad what he thinks of Bernie Sanders the other day. He said that he's unelectable because "he's an extremist". I want to ask him again and press him on what he means by that, because he didn't cite any of his policies or anything. I also think that it's good to be aware of these sorts of answers in an argument. Kind of beside the point, but I have always hated these kinds of answers, they seem like the biggest cop out and you could even encipher that they're condescending in nature, sometimes.

Declarative statements don't bother me. Bare assertions bother me more, but only when they are not elaborated on and an extraordinarily claim has been made. They demand extraordinary evidence.
Declarative statements are just a normal part of comminication. I can declare for instance "God doesn't fucking exist" in response to someone in a post and if anyone says "How can you know this?" I can say "I never said I knew it. To elaborate I'm an agnostic atheist, but I don't see what's any more wrong with saying "God doesn't fucking exist" than saying "Santa Claus doesn't fucking exist"... I am not going to constantly specify the probability of my opinion being correct or the certainty of that opinion. And assertions can have a certain punch to them sometimes folks."

Man that drich guy is a fucking cunt. Go look at his replies to me in my "subjectivity of the bible thread". None of his arguments make any fucking sense, then he 'kicks all the pieces off the chess board and shits all over the place' and says "omg you're trolling I caught you". Is it even worth arguing with someone like that? It probably feels arduous as fuck for a reason, it doesn't seem like he's arguing for a common goal of coming to a better conclusion, it just seems like he's being fucking pedantic ass hell. No seriously, go look at what he writes, it's fucking nonsense.

Yeah, sorry stimbo. I'm bitter as hell right now. I was playing counterstrike and every time I open up my mouth it seems like I give away the fact that I'm a liberal, so people start to troll me. I can't just play counterstrike and talk to people normally without getting trolled. It makes me really weary, putting up with a bunch of nonsense replies, trying to be mature. Then I go and talk to people on this atheist forum. There's these christians there who argue with people for no reason other than to assert their stupid world views, which they'll never change their mind on. So right now I just feel really fucking worn out, I wish I could just talk to some people without feeling like it's going to turn into a shit storm
