What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Got through 7, maybe 8 seconds, of Christmas in Rockefeller Center on NBC. Now back to Hard Bop.

There's got to be something you can do to make sure he lives through the night, at least. How tall is the tree? No one has a ladder or anything? Poor thing... he's probably so scared.

rexbecca, he's about 40 feet up, and nothing I can do. Too late today, I remembered someone I know who can climb such a tree with spiked cleats. I will call him first thing in the morning if the cat makes it through the night. It's 10F now... it's about doing me in, going through this. He's got to come down by himself -- no other choice. Sad

Sad call the fire department to get him down. Isn't that what they always do in the movies?

Not an available option where I live, I'm afraid. They barely send out the fire department when something's on fire -- let alone for a cat up a tree.

I'm so sorry... you're scared too, I can tell. I hope he's ok.

Maybe if you let him alone he might, or have you already tried that?

I left him alone most of the day, hoping he'd work it out for himself, except for occasional periods of coaxing with food. Didn't try the more drastic measures until well after dark, only an hour and some ago. He's just not budging. If it wasn't supposed to get so damned cold tonight, I wouldn't worry much. But we're setting records tonight.

I have substantial background in the piano (if only I can do that again, no access to a piano) and can read sheet music, but I'm already 21, I hear it's hard to build muscle memory as an adult. On the other hand I heard the same thing about language but when I tried it wasn't true and it was fairly easy to learn another language.

Hm. Thoughts?

DO IT! You'll be fine. It's totally worth it.

What instrument are you thinking?

Get a clavichord. The only keyboard instrument that you can do vibrato on.
My ignore list

If you lay a vibrator on your Casio® you can achieve the same bliss.

Sad I'm so sorry, hopefully he'll come down.

TEGH, I'd sooner buy a keyboard and go back to that. But the keys feel so light and different I don't like it.

rex, you sound like you've tried the same thing before? I don't know, haven't made up my mind yet.

Nah, just a lifelong musician who loves to try new instruments. I have a great keyboard with weighted keys that I got at Musician's Friend for, like, $270 and I love it. It's a Casio, and has all the hookups for pedals and such.
