Useless trivia:
There are only two degrees of separation between myself and Alice in Chains.
There was a guy, buy the name of Pat Lachman that my brother and I used to jam with back in the 1980's. Kid was like 15 in 1985, and a fucking amazing guitarist - dude could play anything that Eddie Van Halen or Kirk Hammet had ever recorded flawlessly, amongst others.
He served as guitarist for Rob Halford for several of his albums, and after Layne Staley of AiC died in 2002, Pat filled in during some of AiC's live shows, but never recorded with them. Two years later, he was vocalist for Damageplan and was on stage with (former Pantera guitarist) Dimebag Darrell when Dimebag was shot and killed.
Side note - Pat was probably more of a complete guitarist than Dimebag, but rumor was that Dimebag would never share guitar credits. All I know is the dude was amazing at 15.
I haven't spoken to him in a long time, but I guess my brother still occasionally stays in touch.
