Yes, lack of motivation is definately a symptom of depression.
You don't become dependent on antidepressants.
Biggest side effects is usually a case of the runs.
Once your on the pills, see a psychologist.
Often there is an underlying psychological problem that the patient is not aware of, no matter how intelligent they are.
It's really not that scary, trust me.
Besides, once your thoughts start to drift towards suicide you've got nothing to lose.
So go ahead and book that appointment with the doctor.
You can be happy. Truly. :-)

My thoughts really aren't drifting towards suicide, they're just drifting towards absolute absurdity which they've been doing for most of the past decade. I've felt like everything is absolutely pointless for many many years.

Ikr! Those darn racists. They think they're too good to use regular words!
I think "their" is the correct usage in this context...

I've felt like that on and off since Dad died tbh. Well really, it was there for years even before, but Dad dying intensified it
I've been showing symptoms of post traumatic stress though. I really don't know where I get this from because, apart from losing Dad, what trauma? I can't explain it.

Yeaux, losing a parent at 21 is the trauma. A pretty fucking big one.

I guess so, it just seems like minimal compared to what most people with PTSD go through.

Not a competition. It hurts you. That's what matters. Hug*
A dude asked me out about three weeks ago. Meh. He then told me his horror stories and ended by saying, "So, you see, whenever you think you had it bad, remember I had it worse, so be a grown up and suck it up." We hung out for an hour and I never spoke.
Fuck that. Your tribulations are important. Your dad died. That's valid.

Your brain doesn't care what other people go through. People get PTSD symptoms from car wrecks. Trauma is trauma, but as far as trauma goes, losing one's father at such an important crossroads in one's life is pretty major.

I think I have some sort of post traumatic stress disorder when it comes to awkward situations. Often times I'll just be sitting around and the thought of really awkward embarrassing moments around other people will just creep in, then leave me saying "fuck you" and "shut the fuck up" as if I were just swearing at my thoughts. It's a really big problem I've been having, I don't know how to make it go away. It makes me feel horrible about myself, constantly being reminded about how awkward of a person I can be. I don't know if that can really be called post traumatic stress disorder, but fuck it, I don't know these medical terms, I'm sure you can forgive me.
