Reading my book for my philosophy group.

There's a reason I don't play chess. I'm a terrible player. I was the one who always got beat by the laughing stock of the chess club. It does wonders for your self esteem. Not.

Had some good games and a lovely time at chess club!

I was due to play some sort of league game, but my opponent was ill some played some friendlies against this guy. Much better than me type of guy Tongue

I did surprisingly well considering how out of practice I am. I lost 3 then won 1, but I made him sweat a little in some of the games I lost! They're all really nice to me there. I somehow managed to pull out some moves in the last game, surprising both of us! Got away with skewering his queen and then kept my cool long enough to finish.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I think there's a beauty to chess and its history, but I'll admit, my tactics aren't even 101 level. I have thought about joining clubs at two points in my life, and both are regarded and a couple of the better ones, but I'm not social enough for that.

Plus, in actual competition, you usually have to bang a button on a clock between moves. I'd forget to do that and probably DQ myself.

One of the few books I like, though, is a biography of Bobby Fischer.

Considering whether to switch to 5 Hour Energy or drink my standard, full-size energy drink for work tomorrow.
Drank a 5hE, after taking a couple of OTC Sudafed for a stuffy nose the other day, and it felt like I'd done a couple of lines (I'm guessing).

Very productive day!
Very, very, very, very, very, productive!

I'll definitely skip the Sudafed, though. It became a bit much at one point; Heart palpitations, nausea, etc.
I'm sure the ONLY reason I survived is due to having low blood-pressure..ha ha.
