Yes, I'm in the US. Doppelbock is a traditionally very strong dark lager.

I accidentally bought a sixer of wheat beer and I'm struggling. Tastes alright, makes me feel like my stomach is going to explode. Since I lack the ability to burp, it all comes out the other hole. Shock

It's actually only 8%. Strong in this case refers more to flavor than ABV, though it's alcoholic enough that I'll rarely have more than 3.
