Many words are shared among both languages.
Which makes the ones that are different a bit of a surprise, sometimes.

Those that are similar, are spoken with a different accent...while Spanish can sound a bit like Arabic, Portuguese sounds a bit more like Russian...
It's all those hard R's and weird vowel sounds... Wink
