If favorites Brazil defeat Peru and Ecuador defeat Haiti, the USA will play Ecuador in the quarterfinals, a quite winnable match on home soil. Of course, Peru could "pull a Venezuela" and throw a monkey wrench into the whole thing by winning, but even then the USA would likely play Ecuador. Only way the U.S. draws Brazil in the QFs now is if Peru wins and Haiti manages a result against an Ecuador squad that will be playing all out (I put that scenario around maybe 5%)

We've had copious rain this season, but so far (knock on wood) only one instance of hail.

Not really, I live a few hours south of Tornado Alley. We do get them down here -- had one last year touch down about six miles from my home (while I was at work) -- but between living in Dallas/Fort Worth and Memphis TN, I've been close to enough tornadoes to not be worried about them. You have warning and can find shelter if it's handy ... unlike earthquakes. 20+ years in SoCal, and I will never get used to 'quakes -- been close to Coalinga 83, Whittier 87, Northridge 94, and felt numerous others.

Something about the ground moving just ain't right.

I think I went to one as a child, but I can't trust my memory. I may have totally invented the memory. I certainly haven't been since then. I haven't even wanted to go until very recently. Emma asked me before and I said no. I seem to be changing as a person and wanting to broaden my horizons.
