What's everyone up to right now?

It's never easy.

Thanks, Beccs.   That has to be every parent's worst nightmare - outliving your children.  I can scarcely imagine.

Especially if it's their only child (or if they lose all their children)... in those cases I don't know how the parents even survive or proceed with their lives. It must be an actual living nightmare.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Calm down, that was me making a fool of myself. I actually thought she was talking to me with the woosh, so I was being silly with the nu-uh stuff.

He was their only child. I don't know how I would manage. Probably not very well.

I learned a couple of hours ago that a couple who are very good lifetime friends lost their 22 year old son in a car accident over the weekend. He was a really good kid, and his parents are understandably devastated.

Ever since I have a kid, the enormity of such a loss starts to sink in. I can't even imagine it.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Even more tragic.

I don't know how I would manage either. If I had other children I think possibly I may be able to manage just for their sake... if I lost my only child I don't think I would be able to manage Sad

I've been really busy these last three hours.

Got a phone call from the hospital. Rob drove himself to the ER from work due to chest pain and a fiery burning sensation in his left arm. I don't know if they are keeping him in for observation or not. That was four hours ago.
Had to find a ride to get me there so I could pick up the car.
Got the car. Checked on Rob and then the boys and I left.
Filled the tank. Nice of him to leave it near empty for me.
Stopped off at my school to talk to my instructor about bringing the kids with me to school if Rob is still in the ER. We'll see how the day plays out.
Grabbed a bite to eat real quick.
Headed down to a Garage to make an appointment to get four new tires and the inspection. Two weeks from now.
Stopped at the discount grocery store for a few items.
Stopped off to see my computer guy (see my thread on that)

I am now home, in the a/c, writing this post.

I think a nap might be in order.

Loss of a child (whether or not they have siblings) is always hard. It's even more so when you can't get closure.

My sympathies are with your friend, CD.
