Just....posting, duh. I haven't really organized my day. I'd sort of like to go to a women's basketball game at SDSU (USAFA), but I'm not sure yet.

Still working on a media server for my sister. I changed plans. I have a cute little uATX box that's destined for the bedroom. My sister has an Athlon II that she's not using. I don't want to let the uATX box out of the house as it's my only platform with that size small footprint, but it's only gonna be on loan. I'll get her old retired Athlon, configure that, and swap them. Hopefully we don't get in another fight and I don't get it back from her. But it's not that expensive to replace, either.

I got the hardware assembled to the point that it was ready for its first boot, and lay down for a few hours. I don't know if I'll worry about having it ready for Sunday when we open presents, as we wouldn't have time to install and configure it that night anyway. I'll aim for the next time she has a night free to do the groundwork of installing and testing it.

(Found two more sticks of RAM I can use, but I believe they're DDR2, whereas I think the board is only stable with DDR. I'm missing two sticks of A-Data RAM, but I think that's DDR2 as well, anyway. I may have to rob Peter to pay Paul.)

I just unearthed a piece of ancient history: a floppy disc!

Save me! My mobility instructor is back in town, and she will begin the torture next week! I'm too young to die!

Heat lamps? I was speaking of a heat pump, a big ol' box that sits outside the house with a big ass fan in it that moves heat to or fro to heat or cool as needed. Installing one to suppliment my electric forced-air furnace (and replace my traditional A/C unit) knocked hundreds off my electric bill in summer and winter. Paid for itself in a little over two years.

I priced out a solar system but the return on investment just wasn't there. The house is all-electric (no gas service out in the sticks) and it wouldn't help enough in the winter when electric use is highest.

Not familiar with heat pumps (sorry just saw heat generation and freaked out) perhaps the closest I am aware of is evaporative cooling.

In Oz you are more focused on cooling rather than heating.and it naturally follows that solar is the way to go, so much so that our current electricity usage nationally has dropped by about 20%. Electricity companies are crying poor and want government hand outs to stay "viable".

Residential rooftop panels are fantastic and are being installed fast, especially in new dwellings. You get a 40cent/kWh reductions on the amount you feed back into the grid so yes our panels have paid for themselves and we don't sweat turning the aircon on overnight since the worst result in Perth is fatigue (chronic).

Dear lord baby jesus.. 74F = 23C. And that's comfortably cool for you?!
I'm gonna melt!

I still need to figure out what degree I would go for if I went back to school under a vocational rehab grant. I'd like to go for pure math, but I don't know that it would not be viewed with suspicion as a re-employment plan for someone my age. Computers would be an easy sell, but I've been doing computers for 35 years, and all the excitement is gone. My strongest "skill" is my philosophical acumen, but they'd probably laugh if I even suggested it. So what to do. I did pursue an interest in international business when I was younger. Ideally, I'd like a skill that I can sell to vocational rehab here, and once I get my degree, I'll move to Japan, so I'd like something I could also sell there. I figure that I'll minor in East Asian studies, and if I had a degree involving advanced studies in Chinese or Korean, that could be sold in Japan, but again, selling it here to voc rehab might be tough as a main degree. Again, computers would be a natural, but I don't know if I want to return to that fold. So, I'm still trying to come up with a degree plan. (ETA: Maybe an interdisciplinary major involving religious studies and comparative religion. I could combine that with East Asian studies. But is it a salable degree? An interdisciplinary degree in religious studies with a concentration on atheism, humanism, and modern secular movements? Psychology? I'd make a good clinician, except I don't have any interest in it. I think I need to spend some time researching the job, or, the "no jobs", market.)

Is hot smart chick not a degree? Tongue

How about programming, do you like programming?
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Well, yeah, but the only people I could sell that plan to would be the pimps down on Hennepin avenue, and then the only way I'd get to Japan would be in the hull of a cargo ship run by human traffickers. Not exactly high on my list of alternative careers.

Had to wash my cum blanket today. I knew this day would come. It had gotten a bit inflexible and I knew it was time. So many memories. :'(

Just back from SDSU vs. Air Force. Might go back to campus tomorrow for a cheer and/or dance team exhibition. One or the other or both have a huge competition in a few days, so they are displaying their work beforehand at Peterson Gym, SDSU.
