I will get it set up and running when I get home. I've never seen you post in the Mafia subforum before! Do you just search the word "router" every day in hopes of educating people on them? I won't make fun of you if you do. It's a noble cause. Nobody should pay more than they have to for a router. Okay, I now realize that I thought Judi posted this in her Mafia game sign-up thread. But I put a lot of work into this so I'm still posting it. ![]() ![]() (September 19, 2016 at 6:07 pm)Maelstrom Wrote: I am laughing out loud so hard at the fly episode of Breaking Bad. BB fans are pretty divided on that episode. I personally love it. Everyone complains that it's too slow and drags. To be honest, a lot of episodes in Seasons 1 and 2 are more boring than the Fly episode. Not a lot happens literally, but it's a great look inside of Walt and Jesse's heads. Netgear routers are a mixed bag. If I recall correctly, Cisco bought out Netgear a few years back, and their SOHO products have suffered since then. It's been my impression that the pricier netgear routers include a lot of junk that is unnecessary. But a router lasts a good few years, so whether it's $50 or $100, I don't suppose it makes much difference in the long run. The last router I bought was an Arris model that xfinity/comcast uses a lot of, and I picked it up on ebay for $50. The only drawback to it is that the wifi password is preset to this godawful long alphanumeric sequence. It's a good thing I don't have to enter that too many times! The newer cable modems from Xfinity have shorter, easy to remember passwords. The cable modem appears to be locked so that I can't make changes to it, but perhaps that's because I haven't opened up those screens by setting a personal password. It's unclear.
Anyway, best of luck with your new router. I know how agonizing the process of switching from one router to another can be, and I hope your transition is relatively painless. ETA: The wifi on my Arris is shit. Apparently from what I've read, that's typical of this model (TG862G), but I don't use wifi much, so it's okay. It seemed to have no problem streaming a netflix movie to my tv, so I guess it's alright. The problems I had may have been related to using a cheap micro sized USB network adapter. Since then I've gone 'wired' and the speed is much improved. ![]() (September 19, 2016 at 6:36 pm)Aegon Wrote: I was on the edge of my seat, expecting him to tell the truth of what he did.

Okay...
@ Alex: It's a Netgear AC1200 Smart WiFi Router Dual Band Gigabit with external antennas. @ Poca: I set it up just like the old one was. Drinking a cup of ginger tea and getting ready to turn in for the night. For some reason I've had more energy than usual today. It could just be a one day blip on the radar, or it could signal the start of a manic episode. Only time will tell. I hope, instead, that it's just a turn for the better.
