I love doing the work itself. Also, getting the job was such a pain that I'm still really grateful that I have it - I'm sure that'll change over the years as I grow complacent and/or disillusioned...

Me too, I'd become a full-time author, sitting in stylish cafés all day sipping Espressos and typing on my designer laptop.

Oh well, at least I'm reasonably sure that the work contract itself is not a deal with the devil...

I hear you Alex - I used to love my work, but after 17 years in the same place, with essentially the same job - I'm pretty disillusioned. (though what "same job" meant has morphed a bit over the years.)

I'd like to retire, but that's still years off.
