Oh, and I always thought my taxes went into free health-care, free schools and universities, affortable housing costs, kindergartenes and good (fancy) public bibliothecs, hospitals, places where neigbours can meet for celebration purposes and such. Must have been wrong about something.

I don't drive no car and not even a bike anymore. Too quick for me. And yeah, I value them all the same, police, firefighters and even millitary, IF they serve the tax-payers and not some.....(filll in the blank).

If it helps to know, a good portion of your tax payments are going to blow up parts of Mosul right now.

Not a bad thing if it goes to wipe out Daesh.

Not much by way of sleeping happening right now

Relaxing a bit after an afternoon out and about. Went for a long walk, did some shopping, did some reading, worked a bit on the higher notes on my alto clarinet, framed a pair of watercolour dragon pictures that I received as a gift a year or so ago.

Later I'll have to brave the damp and icy back yard to roll out the trash bins for tomorrow morning, but after that's done I have the rest of the evening to fritter away.

(Older-than-dirt music fan searches her mental catalogue of songs)  Well, it certainly works in the Guess Who song "Undun," but that has more of a jazz flavour.  I'd classify Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull as more of a prog-rock player.  There's a lovely flute extro in the Beatles song "You've got To Hide Your Love Away," performed in the movie Help! by John Scott.

Overall, at least from the woodwinds I think saxophone gives the best bang for the buck in rock.  To that end I offer the fine examples of the late Clarence Clemons from Springsteen's E Street band; the late Raphael Ravenscroft, who played the gorgeous alto sax riff in Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street"; and John Helliwell, who has done some awesome work with Supertramp.
