Just heard on the ABC today that gays who marry (in NZ at least) cannot divorce! The divorce process does not exist for gays.
So what do you do if you catch your partner munching the neighbour's pillow?   (I mean that in the most endearing way, of course)

This prolly opens up a can of worms but I am fascinated by the legalities of it.
Heteros marry legally and divorce legally. No need for God to be involved via the church.

That part I understand but how on earth can you not divorce when it's strictly a legal matter?
Why won't the NZ govt recognise the gay divorce process?

Because gay divorce probably confuses the hell out of the conservatives. Is it saving the institution of marriage because less gays are married, or is it destroying it because it's divorce? It's a tough one.

The current NZ PM is a conservative Catholic.

They had the chance in the past couple of weeks to remove a never-used blasphemy law from the books.

Instead they decided that it should go through a committee process.

Why do things efficiently when you can drag it out at the expense of the tax payer?
