What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Half-watching a CFL game (Lions v. Eskimos) while surfing the web.

hahahahaha .... watching a youtube clip with a bible belter saying up front: "I don't want to disprove atheism or anything,"

pissed myself laughing! (for 1.7 seconds before changing channel)

I just finished a proof of the following proposition: if i=sqrt(-1) and a+bi is a complex number for which the real numbers a and b do not equal zero, then there is a complex number c+di such that (a+bi)(c+di)=1.

You did all that just to come up with 1? It's a bit of an anti climbax.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Watching "Glow" on Netflix. Just saw Allison Brie's boobies.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

My cat, Fígaro, ran off this morning. I went out looking for him right now. He does that sometimes, so I don't worry anymore. He comes back all sweet when he does. Heh. So, I went looking. Found him in a little girl's arms. She was sitting there on the sidewalk hugging him, calling him Fluffy. He no Fluffy, kid! He's Figa-fucking-ro! Felt bad, but told her, "He's miiiiiine!" Just kidding. But as soon as he saw me, I guess he felt caught red handed, because he ran back home. Poor kid. Oh well! He's miiiiine!  Cool

I though only mountain women can have a climbax when reaching the summit of Mt Orgasma! Big Grin

About to go downstairs to see if the chocolate fudge I made earlier this evening deigned to harden. (It's the flavour of fudge I least like cooking, because I'm so worried about burning it that it usually doesn't cook long enough.) If it's still more of a liquid than a solid, I'll have to make alternate plans for band practice noms tomorrow night.

Yes.  However, IMO, most of the fun in putting a proof together is being able to ask key questions about the conclusion, so that we can form new statements going backwards, and once we get stuck in the backward process, then we can work forward from the hypothesis to formulate new statements that will eventually produce the last statement in the backward process.   For example, in this proof, one can determine that there must be a complex number w=c+di that is an inverse of the complex number z=a+bi, and we can show that it is an inverse by demonstrating that a complex number w is the reciprocal of z.  However, via the hypothesis, we need to use various properties involving complex numbers (complex number multiplication, complex equality property, and the complex conjugate property) in order to construct a complex number w that satisfies the given properties of the proposition along with satisfying the conclusion.  Hence, while I agree that the conclusion is very simple, IMO, it is interesting how all of these pieces of information are logically harmonized together into a broader logical system of understanding.

P.S. For anyone who is interested, while I was researching various properties of complex numbers, I came across this website, which was very helpful in analyzing the proposition and writing a proof of it.
