Listened to the new A Perfect Circle single "Doomed"...
It's pretty bad. As bad as "By and Down" was. It just feels lazy. Like it was written and performed in a couple of hours. Thematically it's similar to "Pet," but that song was far better constructed, both musically (it had a real nice, heavy groove) and lyrically (it was far more clever). "Doomed" is just drums, a half-assed Metallica-esque riff, and lyrics about how good people are doomed because greedy, shortsighted fuckheads are in charge of things, using Christian terms and imagery (ooh, it's a new Christ! How edgy! I wrote that kind of shit during my angsty phase in the mid-to-late 90's). *sigh* I guess I'll always have the first two albums to enjoy. 
Yeah, it's just less with more of the same. What a shame.
The comments section is full of fans with nothing but great words for it. One girl said, 'you don't listen to this music, you feel it.'
