What's everyone up to right now?

Got called into the formal conference room downstairs and was told that the company feels they made a mistake when they hired me.

So they gave me a $12,000 raise.

Were you holding a gun?

Okay, I will go away now.

Bought a piece of land.  Going to meet with an architect to discuss putting a house on it.   Here in University town it takes almost 50k just to secure the permits and clearances to build a house on a area set aside for small builders inside a larger subdivision.

Apparently there is need to conduct geophysical survey to ensure the ground can support light weight cheap ass American shingle roofed, dry wall on processed lumber frame houses, even though a hundred or so finished houses by large developers completely surrounds my site.

Angry

The good thing is it is still cheaper to build a house than to buy one from a builder. In addition, If you design a house you can easily incorporate an separate apartment into the house that, with rental rates here, easily cover 1/3+ of the mortgage. That’s what I plan to do.

Awesome. Congratulations!

Since the mistakes appears to be financial, are they going to backdate it?

Two trips to the dump. You might be surprised how much you can fit inside a Nissan Leaf.

Rediscovering the library system. Watching the Twins game. (So sad, I forgot to check the schedule when I got up and missed 5 innings!)

Harvested some herbs.

Having a not so cold IPA.

Fine-tuning my drip irrigation system. I'm realizing that there isn't enough pressure to run as many drip emitters - particularly the 8 port ones - when I have a vertical run that feeds my hanging plants.

Maybe I can put the hangers at the beginning of the loop and improve things. I could run another regulator in parallel, or try to find a higher pressure unit - if they exist for this application.

Or - maybe a better idea is to put the regulator up where the hanging plants are. Thinking

Mowed the lawn and pulled some weeds, then went out to buy the leotard, tights and shoes I need for an intro-to-ballet course I'm taking this summer. Got properly kitted out with stuff that fits me well.

Ended up on the west side of town, at a coffee shop that I really like but rarely visit anymore because it's a bit out of my way. They make the best roasted vegetable sandwich, and I also acquired a free book from their "take one, leave one" library.

Back to working through my weekend to-do list, and just finished wrestling an obstinate but freshly-washed sleeping bag into its carrying bag.

No surprise here; I used to regularly do dump runs in a Cavalier.  One memorable trip included part of a cut-up sectional sofa, and although the car was not too happy about it, once I took a load of concrete.  (Now I rent a pickup if I need to take stuff to the landfill.)

By the way, what kinds of herbs are you growing?

Gravity is your friend.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I managed to fuck up my wrist working in the yard today but I have no idea how I did it. Tendonitis? Beats me.
