RE: What's everyone up to right now?

Listening to music via my Roku tapped in to a newly installed Plex server. The good news is that it understands Monkey's Audio codec, which the bulk of my music is encoded with. The bad news is that the file / folder naming convention that Plex expects doesn't match that which I used when I built my music library. The artist and album name is separated by two dashes, instead of one, which Plex expects. So once I set up an appropriate file store, I'll need to go through and edit the folder names of 800-1000 folders. Bleh.
Other than that, I'm really liking this. My Roku connected up without a hitch.

Just went to Hogeye music for consultation with my guitar intonation problems. He suggested taking the bridge down 1/64". We just did that, and it seems to be working better. It's not perfect, and I'm not sure if I did enough (1/64" is a really difficult measurement to take), or maybe the strings are too unstable from being loosened for the bridge work, but it certainly does sound better. I'm really going to try to not let this anxiety get the best of me, like it did earlier in the week.
They also had a $40 tenor banjo case I bought. It's old as shit and the handle is wrapped with old bandages and string, but it works.

By taking the bridge down 1/64", do you mean the top of it is closer to the body? Not really up on the anatomy of guitars or banjos, but I can show you easy ways to make adjustments in 1/128 increments, or even in the thousandths on pretty much anything.

I mean that, in its default position, it's about 1/64" too high off the top. If the width of the guitar body is X, and the length is Y, the 1/64" or so decrease is Z.
How exactly does one do precise adjustments to the thousandths level? Because what I did was basically sanding.
Okay, at this point, it seems basically stable, and only the B string seems to be a bit out of whack. I'm going to try and worry about it a bit less now.

I'm not sure what you mean by "top". If I had a guitar or banjo, I'd call the top where the tuning pegs are. That would be the "X" dimension. I realize that this is completely arbitrary. Anyway, the next dimension would be "Y", and I would consider it crosswise to the long axis of the instrument. Then Up and Down (back/bottom of the neck to top of the strings) would be the "Z" dimension. Again, I admit that this is completely arbitrary. If you have a different way of describing it, just let me know, and I can adapt to it. As a physicist, I've worked in some pretty bizarre coordinate systems, I can tell you. As far as making measurements and adjustments in thousandths of an inch, that is pretty easy with the right equipment. I won't go into details here, since this thread really isn't a place for it. I think it should be in another thread, and we can do it there if you want to have a thread about it.

In guitar parlance, the top is the face of the guitar that faces outward.
For the purposes of this diagram, the horizontal part parallel to the bridge is X, the part parallel to the neck is Y, and Z is above the top.
In the interest of bringing this thread back to its initial purpose, I went to Half-Price Books earlier today and got White Teeth, The Belljar, and A Monster Calls, as well as the old Criterion edition of Mon Oncle.
