Putting a second pot of coffee on to brew (decaf) and scoping twitter for news stories that I might have missed.
This afternoon I'll be going to a meeting hosted by the Humanists Of Minnesota about how to stay politically engaged without burning out from activism fatigue. I don't know that I plan to be any kind of an activist after the elections, and my activism so far has been limited to posting news stories on the forum, but if I can add such a tool to my toolbox, that simply opens up possibilities. On the downside, we're expecting a rainy afternoon, and I have to stand around outside a good bit because it takes several buses to get there and back again.

Looking at the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet. I have gone with a 10" tablet in the past because I'm handicapped, missing all my fingers except my left thumb, and the bigger on-screen keyboard helps. But the 16GB HD 8 is on sale for $59.99, and quite possibly will drop to $50 on Black Friday. If I use it mainly for music, media, and books, rather than web browsing, the smaller screen isn't as big a negative. Plus, it comes with a microSD slot, so the 16 GB won't be a problem either. $50 is a lot easier to justify than $100, and I typically use a stylus anyway, so I don't think the smaller size would be a big deal. I think this is coming together! The only real downside is that I'm thinking of dropping Amazon Prime, so I wouldn't have access to a streaming video service, unless Sling TV / Playstation VUE is supported, which they might be. Apparently the new version of the HD 8 which started shipping last month also features hands-free navigation via Alexa. Bonus!

Watching Adam Sandler's new special and contemplating a late afternoon nap.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Stopped off at Target on the way home because I wanted to look at the screen resolution on the Fire HD 8 (the resolution on the HD 10 is better), but the display unit was nonfunctional so it was a wasted trip. Snacking on salt&vinegar potato chips. Tonight is pizza night, or at least, it is now. I could cook a frozen pizza, or order my favorite "everything with sauerkraut and banana peppers" from Red Savoy. I didn't use up my pizza budget last month, and it's a new month, so it's my druthers.

Watching a battle between my sister (Democrat) and my brother (Republican), on Facebook, over who is/was the more divisive president...Obama or Trump...

Came back from Half-Price Books and got Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, The Life and Times of Little Richard by Charles White (another book from the Bowie Book List), The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, and Willard and His Bowling Trophies by Richard Brautigan (a first edition, no less).
Also, I went to the library and checked out (among other things), a copy of Logic's Everybody, well, technically, a copy of The Far East Movement's Free Wired with the case of Logic's Everybody.
Well, at least I got a bunch of other things there. Also, I saw someone wrote "Romanes Eunt Domus" on the dry erase board in one of the study rooms. I immediately took a photo of it. The girls who were in there already were confused, and I showed them the picture. When they were confused, I said "Well, someone's clearly never seen Life of Brian. It's the centerpiece of one of the funniest scenes in the film."
And, more frustrating, I got another nosebleed just before we were to leave. Seriously, this is the third day in a row I've had a nosebleed, and that's after several years without a single one. I don't know what's going on, although I suspect my finally regaining my sense of smell after years of dormancy this summer might have something to do with it. I'm seriously considering asking the ladies of the forum about their opinions on what tampons are the best at containing bloodflow AND thin enough to reasonably fit in the nostril of an adult male.

Should have been Trump or Nixon. It's scary how much they have in common.

Writing a poem for my mom's birthday. We have this thing where my dad and I write poems for the other two's (is that the correct apostrophe placement there? :/ ) birthdays, (and I for their anniversary too). This year I'm late on everything, so here I am trying to write something I wanted to write 5 days ago.
Also, whining and complaining about the weather being so hot.
