Knew this was a tough situation for you and the family. Hope he didn't suffer much in the end.
Yeah it was. I appreciate your support through it.
He was found unresponsive. At least check, his pulse and BP were low. I don't know precisely the cause of death but I expect he didn't suffer past the emotional suffering he had been experiencing.
There is a degree of relief. It was inevitable. His quality of life was never going to be good again. I think he just gave up the will to live.

Went to a history museum exhibit on racial disparity in housing in my city, which is apparently some of the worst in the nation. There was a $5 entrance fee, but I decided to go anyway, thinking I could learn a lot about a serious issue in my community. Sadly, while I learned a little, I learned only a little, and do not feel my $5 was amply rewarded. At least it went to a good cause.
Checking the mail, I received the new memory for my netbook. It was only $8 so I don't anticipate returning it regardless of whether I use it or not. It's not a simple thing to upgrade the memory on my netbook, it's somewhat tricky, particularly for someone mising nine fingers and not having a magnetized screwdriver. That and it's not an item I use much anymore, so I'm not in a hurry to start work on it. At the same time I will upgrade the hard drive to an SSD. Maybe I'll find new uses for it if this cures its problems with slowness and hanging. At worst, I can sell it for a few bucks.
I ordered my Amazon Fire HD 8 over Thanksgiving and that is due to arrive soon. It ended up costing more than I expected, as I went with the option of a two year warranty for $15 (normally $20), when the standard warranty is 90 days. I was encouraged to buy the large HD 10 by a friend, but given I don't currently use my old tablet much, this is probably the best compromise of high value and function, and minimum risk of an expense that doesn't end up being used as much as I would hope.

At an Indian wedding reception.
There is a 'Mocktail Hour'. I think that means there's no booze. This is the wedding reception for a coworker's sister, I won't know hardly anyone.
No booze? Uh oh.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Dude, was it hot out? You should have a flask (or two) of rocket fuel in an inside pocket (or two) of your jacket! My wife and I went to her former employer's "thank you" dinner for the community involvement volunteer folks. A shot of corn squeezin's was $8, domestic beer was $5. I could smuggle in more than I would want to drink in the time allotted in a 4-oz flask. I'd rather drink water than a "mocktail". "Mocktail" is like masturbating while your wife is laying there. WTF is up with that?
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Disappointed that I still haven't gotten the Orange Squeezer compressor clone pedal I ordered on Wednesday. This wouldn't be so galling if the pedal wasn't coming from SEVEN FUCKING MILES AWAY. Best case scenario is, if it arrives on Monday, I'll have spent five days waiting for something I could have potentially picked up after a 20 minute drive down to Edgewater.
Well, at least I'm happy with my overdrive pedal, so I don't think I'll need to replace that.

I actually really liked it! It's fun, and like you say..heart warming but not too much. I like the positive message, too...not sappy at all.
Well, vacation is nearly over...and work lurks ahead.
