Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
What's everyone up to right now?

Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
Reading my book in preparation for the Monday night meeting of my philosophy group. The essays on ethics aren't necessarily ground-breaking, but each one brings together importantly relevant information and arguments, and manages to be very thought provoking.
In other news, I secured a ride to a book club that I had lost access to due to losing my eligibility for handicapped transport. (On the day they meet, there is no bus service to the location.) I'm very excited about this, both for the long term prospects of participation, as well as being rather pumped about this month's book. It's titled, "How Democracies Die," and seems particularly relevant to the situation in the U.S. with a strong populist base of voters and a president to match. As the description for the book club meetup says, "Democracy no longer ends with a bang—in a revolution or military coup—but with a whimper: the slow, steady weakening of critical institutions, such as the judiciary and the press, and the gradual erosion of long-standing political norms. The good news is that there are several exit ramps on the road to authoritarianism. The bad news is that, by electing Trump, we have already passed the first one." I haven't started it yet, but I am quite eager, and I have a relatively short time to accomplish the task (by December 9). ![]()
My father died about an hour ago.

My condolences CD, to you and Kitty.
How old was he?
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.
My condolences as well.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

I'm sorry for your loss, Cathooloo. Certainly not the desired resolution, but there may be peace now, and an easier time moving forward.
