I emailed them last week about a bad experience, and they apologized and forwarded my concerns and questions to the manager at the store where I had the problem. He or she was supposed to respond in 48 hours. They didn't, so I emailed them again earlier this week. Again they forwarded it to the store manager and assured me that he or she would get back to me. Again they didn't. So now I'm on hold in order to talk to a live person. I should start billing some of these companies for my time.
Good luck with that. I recently had a doctor's appointment (nothing serious) and I was told to be at the clinic 15 minutes before the appointment time or it would be cancelled. The didn't call me in until 40 minutes after the appointment time. I could have asked them to take it off the bill, but we don't have those here.

I had fun at the Urology Clinic yesterday. The nurses always call your name and then say "Have you emptied your bladder recently?" (Bladder retention ultrasound candidates.)
When the nurse got to me I replied, "Yep, I'm doing it right now." The look on his face was golden.

Finally received my hardcover copy of Mumkey Jones' The Triflers.
As soon as I finish my book of S.J. Perelman, this is the next book in my queue.
This week in the Deep Hurting Project is the first film in the Project so far I've actually seen in full before embarking on this: The Master of Disguise. How badly will this film hold up? Will a film that an autistic child once considered "not that bad" still be "not that bad" to an autistic adult with over a decade and a half's worth of additionally accumulated media sophistication since then? Stay tuned to find out.

Apparently a major thrust of the novel is that the protagonist hears someone calling out to him "Hey You" and hears it as "Hey, Jew" and this leads him to somehow think that maybe, after all these years of living as a Gentile, he might actually have been Jewish all along.
I'm fairly certain I read about it in one of those "Worst books you've ever read" threads somewhere, but I can't find where that post was. I'm searching for the title, and the closest thing I'm getting is Indignation by Philip Roth (something similar happens to the protagonist of that novel, but he was raised Jewish all along), and I've actually read that book and that's not even close to the description of the plot. Any help in the right direction would be very appreciated.
I tried searching too but all I could find was Indignation
I couldn’t find any thread titles with the words “worst book” in them
Ok so I’ve searched every thread I could find about books back to 2011 and I couldn’t find anything about it. (Can you tell I’m bored?)

I should have clarified that I ruled out this thread being on AF before posting it.

Spent much of the afternoon working on my final paper for my business ethics class. It's kind of remarkable how much utilitarian logic can back up both the mindset that led to Boeing sending out the 737 Max without making sure it was safe and the critics who rightly railed about it. And how few MLA citations many sites can take before they start demanding either I turn off my adblock or pay them for a premium account.
