And of course, if it wasn't a suspected bacterial infection, you wouldn't have gotten antibiotics, as you well know. I came down with West Nile many years ago, and actually killed the mosquito that nailed me. Not bad in terms of symptoms; when I went to the urgent care, the the doctor told me that if it got worse, just go to the ER. There is only palliative care for viruses, pretty much.
Glad you guys on the mend...
Nobody sick here - just me - with fricken poison ivy under my nose..... Was clearing a fenceline riddled with it - and blew my nose with a microfiber towel that must have gotten some on it from the chipper..
Whatta pain...

Thanks. And you can't kill it with fire, for fear of breathing the smoke, for effect.
Just finished demolishing a brick mailbox and 50 square feet of brick work on the parkway, to complete the landscaping we started two years ago. The wife finally decided what she wanted for a mailbox. Decisions, decisions! I swung an 8 pound maul and used a 5 foot buzzard bar; the son used a jackhammer. Man, I am too old for this. I'm already hurting. Sad to say, we need to rent a dumpster to load it into. That's going to be kettle-bell like work and shovels for about 2 hours. Once that's hauled off, we'll do some decorative work.

GAH, I do not envy you that task.

Truth be told, I didn't think I had it in me to swing the maul and pry with the bar for two hours (in the heat, yet! It was 93F in the shade, and no shade) anymore. I didn't even want to run the jack hammer, I had my son do that. I'm going to bed early and sleeping late. I used to be able to do this all day when I was 30 years younger, and not fall to pieces at the end of the day, either.

Someone broke in across the road.
I get a knock on the door and it's a detective telling me to lock up and keep me eyes open.
But when he first announced himself I thought I was being raided, fuck me dead. :-)

Guilty conscience?
Three points to remember:
1. Destroy the evidence
2. Leave no witnesses
3. Take no souvenirs or prisoners

I was walking along Lambton Quay in Wellington when the Christchurch earthquake struck.
I heard the rumblings and the rattling of the windows, but didn't really feel the quake. Did watch a guy freak out and run into the street, nearly being hit by a bus.
I'm just thinking it's about time I headed home.
Edit: arsehole!

I sometimes think about moving back home, then I remember where I'm from.
