Easy shit, but my perfection button is all worn down. We were really hungry, and left to get some lunch. It wasn't until we had been home for some time that I realized that I had also wanted to buy a piece of wood for the carving I'm working on. :Facepalm Ain't driving back there anytime soon. Looks like a mail order deal at this time. I have another project on tap which will require a couple of chisels that I don't have. I'll buy the wood when I figure out the chisels for the new project. NB: wood carving is an expensive hobby, as sometimes only one tool will do the job, and they aren't cheap. But when I consider what my wife spends on quilting material and so forth, I look like a piker. Anyone want to buy a sewing machine? She has at least 6, one of which was $16k, new. Good thing we bought it used.

I bought a little $250.00 sewing machine a couple months ago when my decades-old one blew up.  I registered the machine on the website figuring at least I would have somewhere to go if I needed an attachment.  Yesterday I got an offer from them for a deal on a machine for $7,200.00 and a $300.00+ accessory pack.  For that kind of money I should just be able to throw some fabric at it and it spit out a finished quilt.  I do have to say I have spent a good bit on fabric and things this year between making masks and quilts.
The big dollar machine can scan a picture, and, with pauses in the process for the loading of appropriate colored spools(?) of thread, embroider a picture placed in a scanner built into it. Scan picture, load thread as required, get picture back using thread. The thing even threads the needle, automatically.  Clap If I did that with my wood carving, that would take all the fun out of pounding on the chisels with a mallet. Though to be honest, I actually enjoy carving with palm tools (fit in your palm), as it's a nice quiet activity, and kind of therapeutic. When I was in the carving class at the Senior Center, one guy used to bring in an electric chisel. Not too far off the mark of a jackhammer.  Dodgy

Today, someone said "I'll pray for you," to me.

In that passive-aggressive way that Christians get.

I said, "Thanks. And I'll mumble incoherently to my imaginary friend for you!"

Apparently she didn't like that.

I think the best reply to 'I'll pray for you' is probably, 'Ok. You pray for me and I'll think for both of us.' I've used it maybe twice. The reaction was exactly what you'd expect.

I think I have a new favorite whiskey. Jack Daniel's rye whiskey. Sweet caramel and vanilla like a bourbon, with a medium rye spiciness on top. The only negative is that it's rather alcohol forward for only 90 proof.

We had a whiskey fire out here recently, caused a fishkill up and down the watershed as toxins poured into the creek next to distillery.

-but that's nothing compared to the financial loss of all of those barrels. I wish I was a trained fucking cooper right about now - they're going for princely sums. 8 hundo min per, unseasoned.

You choose, I trust you.  And I haven't eaten anything yet today so it will be greatly appreciated.

I just finished a project - that was a part of my bathroom remodel over the last couple months.

I had run the water line under the floor - and now needed to finish the job.

What I did is run a line to my wood burning stove - in a part of the house that never had running water.

Reason - I have a large pan on top of the wood burner that we keep water in - to keep the humidity up. Wood burning stoves cause the air to get painfully dry. Invariably - the pan boils dry at some point in the night .

Now I have a faucet - directly in the pan. All I have to do is turn the knob and refill the dry pan.

No more schlepping buckets of water at 3 a.m....

When the stove is going all out - we boil off about 10 gallons a day.

.....

The SO thought I was goofy for doing this.

I think she will see the light.

At 3 a.m......

Thanks!  The extra syrup was a nice touch.
