Also, waiting for Beccs to get back so I can get some advice on murdering a travel agent.

A friend of mine from TTA had to cancel a trip to Hawaii earlier this year thanks to COVID restrictions. They didn't have a problem with the airlines as far as refunds were concerned but I still don't think they got their money back on the deposit they put on the house they were renting.
I was lucky in that my trip for 2020 was not that big of a deal and I did have hotel reservations that could be cancelled with no penalty up to a day before check in.
Hate to hear about the cancelation of the trip to Fiji. A friend went there a few years back and the pictures he shared were awesome. What a lovely place.
Actually, we could still go, but change the flight to a cruise. Leaving aside the nightmarish idea of a cruise ship, it would take about 10 days to get there, then another 10 in quarantine (assuming we were allowed to disembark at all), then, due to commitments here at home, turn round and head straight back.

I have never had a desire to get aboard a cruise ship. Nope, nope, nope. With every story of raging cases of GI illnesses that seem to be part of the experience the further down my list of things to do a cruise goes.

The wife and I did a cruise in '11. The typical cruise from the US to Ensenada, 3 days, 2 nights. We went with her business group cohorts. What a bunch of yahoos. When we got to Ensenada, I went with my wife and some of her friends on a shopping spree. I just put my brain on autopilot while they shopped. The rest of the guys went to Hussong's Cantina and took turns bribing the wait staff into lifting their compatriots and turning them upside-down there in the bar.

No idea. I went with my wife and a couple of her friends shopping. Total autopilot, for me. The only time I paid attention was when she bought some silver and turquoise jewelry. My woman can grind a price, is all I will say!

Just trying to get me head round how much wall-to-wall coverage we'd be seeing on conservative media if Obama had been president when a bomb destroyed an entire block of a major American city, but went on a golf weekend and couldn't even be arsed to acknowledge that it happened.

Dad and I went back down to the city to pick up the guitar.
Dad thinks we can rehabilitate the instrument. And, for the record, the shard of maple missing from the guitar’s backside is in the case we brought for it (but couldn’t use because it wasn’t the right size).
