I don't find the Glenlivet smoky at all -- which is a big plus for me, because I don't tolerate Scotch with heavy smoke. A particularly nice Scotch is Balvenie DoubleWood, but it's not cheap. Aberlour is another good one.
Balvenie Doublewood is amazing stuff, it's relatively expensive but at it's price point it's quality stuff.. I don't drink scotch often anymore but Glenlivet and Glenfiddich were always good more affordable options. I'm of the opinion that any truly cheap scotch is crap, but really the same can be said for any whisk(e)y.

Come to think of it I don't drink much of any type of whiskey as I have found the whiskey and bad life choices go together like cheeseburgers and bacon. YMMV

At the end of a long (necessary) travel day and I'm glad to bond with my dog and unwind.

IRL I'm wondering how my back got shot to hell, a weird back pain at the lower half of the right side of my back. Very tender too.

Reading about computer joysticks. I've got an Xbox controller, but some games, especially given my handicap, would be well suited to a joystick.

Sipping on salted caramel whiskey while I clean the kitchen. This salted caramel whiskey is on sale and it's really good. I just may grab another bottle.

Decided on the Glenlivet Founder's Reserve for my next bottle. It's the same price, but slightly higher rated than the 12 year. Then after that I'll likely invest in a bottle of Balvenie Double Wood.
I've got my eye on some new accessories.

I stuck, probably until tomorrow afternoon.
And the dogs have leg and chest balls. Had to crush and bathe both. I hope they think the poop frolic was worth it.

Knocking back the last of the high falutin bourbon my wife thoughtfully gave me for Christmas.

Finally went to see a pulmonologist, and it looks like he has some ideas of what's been making me cough for over half a fucking year. He gave a couple possibilities, and the only thing I could end up committing to my long-term memory were the words "upper bronchial." He's ordered a methacholine challenge test, and had me do a chest x-ray. He said they would give me the results within 24-48 hours of the x-ray (more like 18-42 hours at this point).
And the odd thing about his speech, he has a full-on Asian name (first and last name), and while I was expecting an accent, I found something stranger. His accent was more Midwestern (most similar to Minnesotan, oddly enough), but, apart from that unremarkable point, there's a twist that's kind of hard to explain, so I'll start with an example: famed cinematographer Christopher Doyle is from Australia, but has, for most of his career, been based out of China. He still speaks with an Australian accent, but sometimes, his cadences seem to lapse into a more Chinese mode:
Well, it's strange, but, despite the Midwestern accent, his cadences were more Japanese (I should note that, while I'm not sure, one of his names is Korean and the other is Vietnamese) . I found myself thinking of Kyoami, Kurosawa's equivalent from Ran and Hoichi, the blind and eventually earless singer from Kwaidan, but since Dad has seen neither and I somehow couldn't find a good clip of either one on YouTube, I eventually settled on (of all people) Gedde Wantanabe. Not in the notorious accent (which is fake), but the cadences. Eventually, however, I found a clip of the sort of things Hoichi sang and I think it's closer to that:
