What's everyone up to right now?

We are doing about 30 trees on our property - and 60 on the neighbor's. He helped tap the trees -  and will share in the syrup.....

I cut way down this year due to C19. We.will not open to the public as we usually do - and will only sell to select customers in a low exposure mode as possible.


It' s just not worth dying over...

Cool. If any of the trees show signs of dying, call your local sawmill. Sugar maple is worth a packet.

Tapping the trees ruins them as lumber...

But - I am minimally invasive. On a really big tree (a meter or so at the base) I will use 2 taps. All others only 1. Overtapping kills trees. I see guys putting 6 to 8 taps in a tree and I cringe...

Finished seeding broccoli, spinach, collards, beets, lettuce and strawberries outside. Forcing my onions and garlic and getting the potatoes to scab up.

I have to set up racks and pads and lamps to start tomatoes this week. Still 20deg out there. New chicks are hatched. Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks. Also got a few hundred coleus seeded on mats inside. Supposed to be trading a few peach trees for a bunch of roses and a couple cornish cross roosters for a brahma and a wyandotte to replace my fallen soldiers from last year. Also planted a few honeycrisps, jonathans, and red delicious. I'll have pics up shortly.

I think I may end up jailing Firefox. When I had 16 GB, it sucked down the bulk of my memory. So when I upgraded, I popped for 32 GB. It just said, "Hey! Lebensraum!"

I've got two videogames that I need to read the manuals for (300 pages+200 pages) and I'll be picking up a half dozen new bottles of scotch tomorrow. I think I now have a new nightly habit.

I have an insatiable thirst for storage. I just bought a 10 TB external hard disk, but reading the latest Newegg ad with 8 TB WD Red Pro's for $180, my only thought is, God I wish I had $360.

Progress on the archtop: we’ve managed to get two+ coats of rosewood stain on the back and sides, and Dad’s put the first layer of oil on the top.

And now that it’s become abundantly clear I can’t just find a way to flip the wiring so it hangs onto the left soundhole, it looks like that pickguard’s going to go right-handed.

Well that worked out fairly well. Surdyk's ran out of the rye that I wanted, so I placed the order without it. I wanted it mainly because it was like $13 off. So I went back and looked and found they had $7 off a scotch that I was unfamiliar with but which was rated an excellent scotch and a great value. So I ordered that, but that added $10 to my bill. I chat up Comcast with a small question about my bill, and the agent gives me a $10 credit on my bill for being a loyal customer! I'm doing good this morning. Gonna have a bunch of new whiskey to try, and my coffee maker should be here Sunday or Monday.

Just got done putting the groceries away. This shopping online for pickup is going to work out fine, I think. Nice young man loaded my groceries. Took me the time to drive two miles there, wait five minutes, drive two miles back.

Now I have to figure out how to spend the rest of the day.

My order pick-up went well. I winged it, since the bus route planner was giving me piss poor routes. So I waltzed downstairs to catch a #2 and walk a half a mile. But the first thing to pull up was a #7, so I hopped on, planning to catch a transfer downtown and get off a block away from the store. I get downtown and look, and the next bus going where I need is two blocks away. Cruised in and out of the shop in ten minutes, and walked the half a mile back to the #2 which takes me right to my door.

Drinking a glass of Islay Mist. It's Islay scotch watered down with Highland scotch. It's just the thing for my peat-averse taste buds.

It just gets better. The Comcast rep said she was giving me a $10 credit. I'm now showing a $17 credit. Maybe I need to talk to Comcast more often.
