Cop, "Why do you have a child bound and gagged in your boot (trunk, for Americans)?"
Me, "It's a spare in case I lose one at the mall."
Cop, "But your car is empty!"
Me, "See? Forward thinking."

Reminds me of:
A social worker shows up at a man’s house and says, ‘Sir, we’ve had a report that your son is being mistreated.’
Puzzled, the man says, ‘There must be some mistake. My son is fine.’
‘I’m going to have to come in and see for myself, sir.’
‘By all means - come in , come in. He’s in the third cage on the left.’

Just purchasing another local's booze
The first liquor are made from a fruit that looks a lot like coconut
The second liquor, made from a another fruit that also looks like a coconut..
Since they could brew this tropical coconut-ish liquor, why nobody brew any Mead here..?
Still have to wait for another 5 month to taste my batch of homemade Mead..

At work.
Halfway-ish through shift and temp is down to 8' C/ 47' F.
All the heaters are going. Am glad for three layers of gear.
Looking forwards to the morning so as to snuggle under the 'Dooners' and electric blankets.
Still the days are getting longer. We'll steal back the Sun from those Northerner's yet.

Declined a job offer. If I can’t work from home, at least a hybrid form of it, I’m out. I’m likely going back to my employer but I’m enjoying a few months off.
Many employers want employees back full time. I’ve been reading that many want to work from home. I think there’s a trust factor that got lost during Covid. Employees don’t entirely trust their employers to not furlough them the second another catastrophe happens. Long commutes and jumping through corporate hoops I think, aren’t what employees post-Covid are interested in. I know I’m not.

I was lucky during the midst of the pandemic to find a work from home job that will always be such. I work part time now and make a trip to the office once a week to pick up documents. At least I have a reason to leave the house once a week. LOL.
My daughter-in-law got a new job a couple months back and it's hybrid which is good for her as she isn't quite as disciplined as she should be for a totally remote position.
A good friend of mine has worked for a national company for about 30 years and was in and out of the office during the whole COVID thing. They finally told her she could stay remote till she retires.
My daughter, who is the facilities manager at her job, has never had the opportunity to work remotely. Her company has had people in and out while trying to see what works best. She said part of the reason they wanted people in the office is that just before COVID they had signed a new lease on more square footage and want to use it...however, they are finding out that a lot of people were more productive at home. They seem to be going case by case.
Everyone was so blind-sided that now they are trying to figure out what to do. First it was all reactive now businesses are trying to figure out proactive solutions.

I was fortunate in that I was already a remote worker when this all happened, and as it worked out, our local office was closed permanently for non-COVID related reasons about a year ago, so all of us formerly from that office were classified remote if we weren't already.
If that weren't the case, I'd have strong reservations about returning to the office full time. I think I'd retire first

My wife was fortunate that her employer was proactive and got them set up for remote work as quickly as possible. They're talking about bringing people back, in waves. She's just fine working from home, and the boss is extremely happy with her performance. If they force the issue, she will retire early.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
